The village of Ide as seen in Chapter 2.
Ide (イムの村, Imu no mura, Im Village in Japanese) is a location that appears in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. First seen in Chapter 2, it is a sprawling mountain village in Renais.
Home of the legendary warrior Garcia and his son Ross, Ide sits just south of the Frelian border. On the far side of the mountains to the west lies Grado. Though limited by the steep slopes and dense forests surrounding it, Ide still has a sizeable population, most of whom live in walled neighborhoods leading up the mountain peaks. It also has the advantage of being on a main passage from Frelia through the mountains to the south of Renais and inevitably, to Serafew in Grado. Further south of Ide on this same road is Borgo Ridge.
Story
Ide is the site of one of the first conflicts following Grado's invasion of Renais in 803. The assault on the village is led by Bone, a member of Bazba's Bandits. As revealed at the beginning of Chapter 2, Bone and his gang of bandits have no tie to any nation; rather, they are simply taking advantage of the chaos resulting from Grado's aggression. As such, the bandits destroy the home of Garcia and Ross without second thought. If they arrive in time, Eirika's party can stop Bone from destroying other homes, eventually defeating him and his men. Here, Vanessa and Moulder prove their talents as they come to the aid of the villagers at Eirika's discretion.
Still, the bandit attack is devastating, effectively destroying Ide. While they pledge their talents to Eirika's cause, Garcia and Ross vow to return to Ide after the war. Indeed they do, aiding in the reconstruction of the mountain town after darkness is dispelled from Magvel.
Etymology
Ide may come from idé, a Germanic descendant of French idée, "idea". イム, Imu may refer to Ím (イーム, Imu), a jötunn mentioned in Norse mythology, son of the wise Vafþrúðnir.
