MacLear is a background character in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. He is the grandfather of Kris who is first mentioned in the beginning of the game. His name is mentioned in the base conversation in Prologue VI with Jagen. He is a former Altean Knight who withdrew from the frontlines due to his injury, but whose loyalty to Altea was unmatched. MacLear is an old friend of Jagen and was the one taught Kris how to fight. Kris was able to join the Altean Knights due to their grandfather.
