“I don't understand. Why would they fight against the vice-minister, chosen of Ashera? Are they somehow...deficient? You will perish for your defiance of the empire, vermin!”
—Numida's battle quote

Numida is a boss character in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. He is a high-ranking Begnion senator.

Profile

Numida was tasked with overseeing Begnion's occupation of Daein following the Crimean victory in The Mad King's War. However, he greatly abused his authority in the matter, sending able-bodied young men to work without pay in labor camps and levying goods from the Daein people for the Begnion Occupational Army's use. His personal general, Jarod, oversees the Begnion Occupational Army's operations and acts strictly under Numida's orders.

After the Daein Liberation Army begins to emerge victorious against the Begnion Occupational Army, and word of the happenings in Daein reach Empress Sanaki, Numida disavows all knowledge of these abuses, blaming Jarod for the atrocities committed.

After Ashera awakens and passes her judgement on the peoples of Tellius, Numida is among those spared to serve as one of her Disciples of Order charged with defeating those that eluded her judgement. He is subsequently killed in the Grann Desert by the forces of Empress Sanaki. Upon his death, he drops a Laguz Gem.

Personality

Numida is an opportunistic, corrupt duke that uses his position of power in the Begnion senate for his own personal enrichment. He thinks nothing of the people of Daein, whom he freely exploits and abuses while being mindful to maintain just enough distance that, when the situation in Daein turns against the Begnion Occupational Army, he is able to lay full blame on his subordinate Jarod and escape punishment.

After becoming a Disciple of Order, Numida's already inflated ego intensifies as he sees himself as one of Ashera's chosen ones, and Empress Sanaki, the Apostle, as a mere pretender. He remains unapologetic for his actions in Daein to the end, responding to members of the Dawn Brigade with indignance when confronted for his role in the atrocities.

Trivia

  • Numida is the only plot-important Begnion senator to not have a custom sprite or battle model, instead using those of the generic SP Bishop class.
  • In the Choose Your Legends Round 5 event, the first in which he was eligible for voting, Numida placed in 493rd place alongside Desmond, Dice, and many others.
