History in the Series

In Path of Radiance, the Halberdier class is introduced as a promotion for the Soldier class. Devdan is the first player-character to join the player as a Halberdier, and Nephenee can promote into the class.

In Radiant Dawn, the Halberdier class is further able to promote into the Sentinel class when the necessary requirements are fulfilled.

When Path of Radiance was localized, one of the changes made was in giving classes such as the Swordmaster and the axe-wielding Berserker an innate 15% bonus to their critical hit rating. This bonus was not granted to Halberdiers, but it was granted to the class in Radiant Dawn.

In Fire Emblem Warriors, Halberdiers appear as an enemy-only class that functions with a moveset cloned from Oboro.

Halberdiers return as a playable class in Fire Emblem Engage, where it is a promotion for the Lance Fighter class. However, there are no player-characters in the game that begin as either Lance Fighter or Halberdier, and the class tree is only accessible through reclassing.
