—Description of the Emblem class in Engage.
Emblems are legacy Fire Emblem characters that appear in Fire Emblem Engage as spirit-like beings tied to sacred Emblem Rings.

Profile
Similar to Einherjar in Fire Emblem Awakening and Heroes in Fire Emblem Heroes, Emblems are the spirits of Fire Emblem Lords of previous titles. The spirits of these Lords are channeled through special Emblem Rings. The Emblem incarnations of these characters are visually distinguished from the actual Lords themselves by their ethereal appearance and bluish glow. Unlike Einherjar, Emblems recognize themselves as such and have full awareness of the fact that they are not the original incarnations of the heroes they mirror. As corporeal spirits they can interact with the world and fight, but are bound to the Rings or Bracelets they are housed in. As noted by several Emblems themselves, they do not need to eat or sleep and have no sense of taste. In terms of their current knowledge of their original worlds, a vast majority of the Emblems have knowledge of the story events of their respective games up to their Endgames if not beyond. The exceptions being Corrin whose game route is not explicitly stated, though implied to be the Revelation route given her recognition of Anankos, Camilla whose dialogue seems to imply either Conquest or Revelation (The name of her emblem would imply the latter), Byleth who knows about Nemesis who is only encountered in person during the Verdant Wind route, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude seem to be limited to their Academy Phase, and Veronica, who despite having her appearance of from Book VI and beyond, seems to have a personality more similar to her Book I to Book II appearances but opens up further in in her Bond interactions.
Emblems are susceptible to a corrupting power used by forces loyal to the Fell Dragon Sombron. Emblems under this influence are visually cloaked in a red aura, with prominent aspects of their coloration likewise turning red or black. In this state, their personalities are suppressed and they lose the capacity for speech, rendering them little more than subservient automata. However, even in their corrupted state, the power of the Emblem Ring can be still be unleashed in similar fashion.

When brought together, the Fell Dragon Sombron can absorb their energy, fully awakening his power. All twelve Emblems can also bestow a special blessing on a chosen individual of all twelve Emblems' mutual agreement, transforming them into an Emblem themselves, and granting them a vast portion of their power. It can only be done once and never again.
In the final battle, Sombron summons forth Dark Emblems representing major antagonists or final bosses of all previous games in the series. These take the form of a cloaked individual wielding (tomeless) magic.
Each Emblem can be further empowered as there are locations throughout Elyos that remind them of important moments of their lives.
