Base Conversations are optional pieces of dialogue first seen in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
Overview
Tellius Series
Base Conversations are conversations that can viewed from the Base Menu between battles, available through the "Info" sub-menu. They are chapter-specific and only available for viewing from the point the player enters the Base screen until they enter the following battle. Some conversations can only be viewed if specific conditions are met.
All base conversations have a rating of one to three stars, which denote the content of the conversation:
- 1 Star: Conversations that provide minor character background or flesh out a newly introduced character, similar to Support conversations, though without any additional gameplay benefit.
- 2 Stars: Conversations that offer strategic hints and advice on how to proceed in the next battle.
- 3 Stars: Conversations that result in the player acquiring some gameplay benefit, such as recruiting a new unit, acquiring a weapon or item, or unlocking a Triangle Attack.
New Mystery of the Emblem
Base Conversations also occur in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem if two units who can form conversations together in the same chapter, earning 1 Friendship point with that unit. If enough points are obtained, they can have a conversation in the Battle Preparations menu before the next fight. Alternatively, unit can obtain 1 Friendship point for Kris using the Clock Function. There are 3 Base Conversations one unit can have with another unit, and on the third one, the player receives a Bond item that boosts a a stat when used for 1 chapter. Also, if a character uses the Bond Drop item, all of their conversations with most characters will be unlocked instantly, except in the case of Avatar, where it only affects Marth, Ryan, Luke, Rody and Katarina (although strangely, only conversations Katarina and Avatar 1-2 can be viewed instantly).
