The trade command
Trading is a menu action a character can take in most Fire Emblem games.
Overview
All units have a limited inventory in which they can carry additional weapons and items to battle. Trading allows two allied units to swap contents of their inventories between them.
As a command action, trading will cause the unit that initiates the command to use their turn. The initiating unit and their trading partner must be adjacent to each other to be able to use this command, and the initiating unit can trade with both active units and units on standby. Completing a trade does not immediately end the initiating unit's turn. In some games, after trading, a unit may still be able to attack (if an enemy is in range), use an item, and use certain other commands. Movement is usually not allowed after trading unless the character still has movement remaining via Canto.
Trading can also be done between units who are being rescued and, in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 only, enemy units the player has captured. There are also instances in which enemies can trade items with other enemy units. In Thracia 776 enemies can trade items with each other, though in practice, this occurs rarely. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, enemies may trade vulneraries when they have low HP.
