An Inventory, in the context of the Fire Emblem series, consists of an individual unit's personal storage for weapons and items.
Overview
Throughout the series, characters have personal inventory space in which they may carry weapons, staves, consumable items, and accessories. The maximum capacity of inventories varies between games, though the general average allows space for a total of five items. The range in inventory sizes has varied from as low as one inventory slot in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake to as high as eight in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
During the course of battle, characters may acquire weapons or items, at which point they will add them to their inventory. If the unit acquires an item, but doesn't have carrying space in their inventory, they will be given the option to either send the item directly to the supply convoy, send another item in their inventory to the convoy to clear space, or if the convoy is not available, discard an item. Consumable items that are fully expended are automatically dropped from a character's inventory. In most games with weapon durability, a weapon that runs out of uses will break and also be discarded, but some games allow the character to keep the weapon in their inventory to repair later.
Characters can also Trade items between their inventories as an action command during a turn. If a player character dies during battle, the contents of their inventory are usually returned to the convoy.
