Strength (力 Chikara lit. Power) is a character stat that affects the amount of damage that the character inflicts when using a physical (non-magic) attack weapon.

Overview

Strength is the general physical power of a character and one of the two primary damage determining stats of the Fire Emblem series alongside Magic. Strength is used as the damage determining stat for all martial weapons as well as Bows, Daggers, and Brawling. Except for Crossbows, the higher a unit's Strength, the more damage they deal with those respective weapons. Strength is calculated into the Might of a character's weapon and then compared to the foe's Defense stat, resulting in less damage the higher their Defense is.

In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Strength is also used to calculate Attack Speed. The higher a unit's strength, the heavier the weapon can be before the unit suffers an attack speed penalty. Units like Fighters, Warriors, Pirates, Berserkers, Knights, Generals, etc. usually have large amounts of strength. Strength is very good at slicing through an enemy's Defense. Units such as Thieves, Pegasus Knights, Myrmidons and Swordmasters usually have low strength. Magic units usually possess lower strength because they use magic, instead.

In Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, and the three Game Boy Advance titles, magic-wielding units do not have a Strength stat. The Magic stat is used in its place.
